In
the last decade, the clinical biomechanics evaluations applied to orthopaedics
and sports traumatology have been a strong interest of our laboratory. Through
innovative research in clinical biomechanics, our laboratory has developed a better
strategy of clinical assessments and treatments. Functional assessments and
morphological information combined with biomechanical measurements of the locomotor
apparatus provides a better diagnosis of the pathology in order to prescribe the
most appropriate treatment strategy, either conservative or operative. Our clinical
approach is also used to identify the readiness of athletes to return to sport.
Staff
expertise
Our
clinical and research personnel experts are in the field of orthopaedics, sports
medicine, biomechanics, physiotherapy, rehabilitation, and physical education.
Our group is also involved with international specialists to guide our clinical
and biomechanical research program. Two experts in the field of orthopaedics and
biomechanics are working with our laboratory as consultants and research collaborators
namely Professors E. Eriksson (Karolinska Institute, Stockholm, Sweden) and M.
Lamontagne (University of Ottawa, Ottawa, Canada).
What
we offer
Our
personnel at the laboratory of clinical biomechanics performs research, clinical
evaluations and biomechanical assessments in gait, posture and balance, muscle
strength and fatigue, proprioception of neuromuscular system, muscle activation,
joint stability, and sport related activity. Our laboratory is equipped with three-dimensional
motion analysis system, force and foot pressure measurement system, and telemetric
surface EMG equipment as well as isokinetic device to measure muscle strength
and fatigue.
